I had a blast speaking with Casey Liss and Myke Hurley about taking on a project like Úll for their show Analogue. We spoke about the work involved and the effects it has on my emotional well being, my day job, and my colleagues.
But we also spoke about outcomes. I get a kick out of seeing two people who didn’t know each other prior to Úll, chatting 6 months later on Twitter. I’ve seen friendships flourish, and every now and again, someone tells me a story that came about as a result of attending Úll.
On the show, I spoke briefly about Dermot Casey. His visit to Úll last year got him on a fitness programme. It was somewhat accidental: He thought everyone would do the run! If you have a few minutes I urge you to read his personal piece on this.
Which brings me around to the 5k Run. I’m back outta shape, and need a reason to get off the couch. Let’s do it again: On the morning of the 31st March, do join me in clearing the cobwebs and getting some oxygen into the lungs.
If you’ve never run, take a leaf out of Dermot Casey’s book: Get out and do a bit today, and be ready for a run in March.
If getting healthy wasn’t motivation enough, we’re asking that everyone donate a small entry fee of $10 (you can donate more if you want) to Codestarter … an organisation who, quite literally, put laptops into the hands of kids. If we get at least 25 people out again this year, we’ll know that our run will help a child to learn how to program.
Register now and make your donation directly to Codestarter
Hope to see you there!
